OUR SHARED VICTORY
We have been successful in having our demands expedited and met. Of the five demands, four have been met outright and without concession. These four are: having a Black Student Advisory Council representative on search committees, revision of the William C Parker and Lyman T Johnson scholarship, standardizing the role of diversity and inclusion officers by the end of the week, and releasing the findings of the Cook Ross survey within 36 hours. The fifth obligation, removal of O’Hanlon mural, has been recognized temporarily by covering the mural. The mural will be covered by the end of the week with proper scaffolding. All meetings going forward will include President Capilouto and Dr Bill Swinford who have committed to transparency. Ms. Carol Taylor-Shim will also be included in all meetings for the purpose of inclusivity and empowerment. One night of occupation has been brought about by months of negotiation, BUT our work is not done. We will see these acts through. For further information and regular updates on our progress please see the page, "Progress."
